Wild Tykes Forest School
Nature is one of our greatest teachers
Wild Tykes is a non-profit organization 501(c)3 which provides free opportunities for children of all ages to visit local wild spaces. We engage in both wild free play and seasonal based activities.
Long term goals include helping families feel confident exploring Missouri's local wild spaces, providing nature-based training to early childhood educators, and creating a sustainable future.
Wild Tykes was formed in 2019 by a group of teachers wanting to provide opportunities for children of all economic backgrounds to have availability to forest school. We began providing free events once a month around St. Louis where families could explore, connect, and emerge themselves in nature with the guidance of forest school educators. Wild Tykes became an official nonprofit 501(c)3 in summer of 2022.
In Fall of 2023, Wild Tykes started focusing not only on providing opportunities to get kids outside, but also educating and supporting the adults that care for children (parents, guardians, and teachers) so that they can venture into local wild spaces with confidence.
